Antique shaft chimes come in an amazing variety of styles and in a wide range of condition -- from near mint to nearly hopeless. Here is what we do to restore a chime set:

• Disassemble the set completely
• Clean, polish, and lacquer the chimes
• Tune the chimes to improve the sound if needed
• Clean and straighten (or replace) the bracket
• Cover the bracket in leather (or prime and paint it black)
• Install optional buckled straps -- three straps on a 4-bell set (shown), two on a 3-bell set
• Clean and fix (or replace) the clappers, chains, and "spiders"
• Reassemble the chime set with solid brass hardware
