The large row of bells on this strap makes a big, bright sound -- as attention-getting and loud as its bright crimson tassels. There are 50 rivet-base petal bells 1 1/4" in diameter, spaced 1 3/8" apart along the length of this body strap. The bells date from the late 1800s to early 1900s.
The black, unlined strap is 7 feet long and 1" wide. It is decorated along both edges with crisp double creases pressed into the leather. The buckle and billet (tongue) are separate 5/8" wide straps riveted onto the main strap with traditional copper rivets. This is a typical design detail seen on old straps with "dotted petal" bells. This strap was made for display on a door, but it would also look great as a body strap worn by a cob (small horse) or large pony.
