Unlined strap with 35 small bells

This neck strap is 4 feet long and 1 1/2" wide, with 35 bells tightly spaced along its length. It is sized to fit 20" to 24" collars (from cob to smaller draft horses). The round rivet-base bells are 1 1/4" in diameter; they probably date from the late 1800s to early 1900s.

Although we buckled the strap around Annie's bare neck (top photo), each end is really meant to buckle around one arm of a set of hames (bottom photo.)

If desired, a similar neck strap can be made to buckle to itself, like a regular neck or body strap, for use with a breast-strap harness or riding saddle or for Santa to wear on a shoulder.
