Please note that our handmade bell pins may require an extra day or two to ship, since we make them as needed. The size and shape of each pin will vary slightly due to its handmade nature.
Small pins: For small bells with short "U" shanks or drilled-hole shanks. If you put the shank of the bell through your leather strap and the leather covers one fourth to one half of the hole in the bell's shank, you should use these pins. These pins are made of lightweight wire. Tip: If the leather covers more than half of the hole in the bell's shank, you may want to use a thinner strap.
Medium pins: For small to medium bells or for straps up to 1 1/8" wide. If you put the shank of the bell through your leather strap and all or nearly all of the hole in the bell's shank is visible, use these pins. These pins are made of our standard bell-pin wire.
Large pins: For medium to large bells, especially if the strap is 1 1/8" wide or wider. These pins are made from the same wire as our medium pins, but the overall shape is longer and broader to better support larger, heavier bells. Tip: If the shank of the bell is unusually large, which is often the case with early 1800s bells, the bell will fit very loosely on the strap. You can fasten two of these pins through the shank to tighten the fit.
