Antique patent (Tucker) bell, single throat, rivet base, size #2, 1 1/4 in.

One-piece "patent" bells are stamped from thick sheet brass and have a ring of patent dates stamped on the base. These bells have many minor design variations. They are also called Tucker bells, after their designer George Tucker.

The patent bell shown is nearly identical to the most common style, except this bell only has one throat (slit) and is a scant 1 1/4" diameter. Patent bells date to the 1870s through the early 1900s.
