This unusual hip strap design is an adaptation of an old strap from Hartford, Connecticut USA. It is about 24" long and 3" wide and is similar in design to a traditional rump strap, except many small bells are on this strap rather than a few large ones.
This style is the second-most popular rump strap we make, after our 4-bell rump strap. It appeals to saddle-horse owners as well as carriage drivers.
Each Hartford strap has a total of 20 smaller bells -- as many bells as some full body straps have. The bells have a cheerful, classic "sleigh bell" sound that carries well. The strap easily fits a wide variety of equines, from pony to draft. It is also attractive enough to hang on a door or wall for display.
Choose from antique petal bells, antique "round ridge" bells (shown), or new petal bells.
Optional dees can be added to the ends (shown) to make the strap easier to hang on a wall or tie onto a harness. Dees can also be added along one side so the strap can be tied onto the back of a riding saddle.
All hardware is solid brass or copper. The leather is available in your choice of black (shown), dark brown, or medium brown. View colors...
Your strap will be similar in general design to the pair of straps shown, but the details may vary slightly.
