Display strap with 15 bells and 2 brass buckle covers

This strap holds seven larger "petal" bells and eight much smaller ones. My usual arrangement of "large bells at top graduating to small at the bottom" did not look good with these bells. After some discussion, the owner and I came up with the idea of interspersing the small bells between the larger ones.

The two brass gizmos with the hearts are bridle rosettes. Rosettes are normally found on bridles where they keep the straps of the bridle organized and tidy. I am fairly certain the rosettes are quite a bit younger than the bells, but they certainly are pretty, and the scratches and dents give the rosettes an aged look. The owner and I agreed they looked best at the top and bottom of the bells.

The buckle at the very top of the strap is the old buckle from the original strap that I cleaned up, adjusted, and reused. The solid brass ring at the bottom is new. It was added just because the owner liked it.

This piece is about 45" long overall. The strap is made from black leather, 1 1/2" wide.
