Three Sisters display straps

These display straps were made for three sisters who wanted to share their father's bells. Click "See more images" to see my first attempt at dividing the uncleaned bells into three groups and the cleaned and polished bells on their new straps.

After one badly broken bell was removed from the set, each sister got 8 or 9 bells. Sister 1 wanted her eight bells made into two display straps, one with three bells and the other with five. Sisters 2 and 3 wanted all of their bells put onto 9-bell display straps.

Many of the bells were cracked and had poor tone, so it took quite a bit of time for me to divide the bells to my satisfaction. The three groups of bells not only had to look reasonably alike, but the bells within each group also had to sound good together. It was a tough challenge.
