Dance bells I

This handsome pair of Native American dance-bell straps was commissioned by a North Carolina dancer. A total of forty antique "beehive" bells adorn these straps.

The straps are designed to fasten just below the knees and are sized to be worn over woven gaiters. The ends of each strap overlap so the gaiters do not get pulled or snagged by the bell straps.

The wool on the sheepskin linings has been neatly trimmed to about 3/8" long to provide plenty of cushioning without a lot of bulk.

The long edges of each strap are decorated with a "pinked" edging made of thin leather in a slightly lighter shade than the color of the main bell strap.
