Line adapters, pair

Doc Hammill, expert horse trainer and veterinarian, strongly recommends replacing snaps on your driving lines with buckles to prevent serious accidents.

Why are snaps on driving lines dangerous? Doc answers that question and more -- read his article "Ten Common Wrecks." © Doug Hammill, DVM, 2006. All rights reserved.

Our line adapters, based on Doc's design, will convert your lines from snaps to buckles in just a few minutes without a trip to a harness maker.

How to install: First, unbuckle the conway buckles on your existing driving lines (reins) and remove the snaps. Keep the conways, but set the snaps aside -- you will not need them. This is a good time to clean and condition the leather at the bit end, if needed. If the leather is cracked or damaged where it was folded around the snap, you should also cut off the damaged leather and punch new holes for the conway buckle. Fold each line around the adapter ring, and fasten the conway. Your lines should now look similar to those in the photo.

Not sure what size to get? The 7/8" adapters (shown in photo) are the most popular. They are best suited for typical bit rings and lines at least 7/8" wide. The 5/8" wide adapters are better suited for small bit rings and narrow lines.

This strap is available in your choice of two colors. If your lines are russet (undyed) leather, medium brown will blend well. Black will work best with dark oiled or black lines.

Sold per pair. One pair will convert the lines for one horse.
