Unlined strap with 26 steel jingle bells

The 26 steel jingle bells on this strap are treasured by their owner as a family heirloom. The bells had become very rusty and pitted over the years. Even after soaking them in a de-rusting solution to remove the worst of the rust scale, they remained a dull black-brown color. I lacquered the bells to help even out the color and add a slight bit of shine.

The owner wanted the new dark brown strap to be a close copy of the original. Click on "See more images" to compare the new and old straps. I was able to reuse the original 5/8" wide buckle on the new strap. The billet (the other end of the strap with holes for the buckle) is unusually long at 15 inches. The finished strap is 83 1/2" long from the buckle to the opposite tip. The main bell section is 76" long and 1" wide.
