Unlined strap with pinked edges, 23 band bells

The owners' strap was in sad shape, but I could tell it had once been a cutie. The edges had been "pinked" -- cut in a zig-zag pattern.

We cleaned, polished, and lacquered the 23 band bells.

I created a new strap in black leather following the design of the old strap, although the new strap had to be shortened because some of the bells were missing. The new strap is about 69 inches long with a pinked edge and a narrow billet (tongue) sized to fit the old buckle.

The original buckle was badly corroded but still serviceable for display use. It was cleaned up and attached to the new strap using rivets, just as it was on the old strap.
