Unlined strap with pinked edges, 36 small bells

A gracious lady from Mississippi sent this set of 36 petal bells to us for restoration. The old leather strap had disintegrated in the humidity of Hurricane Katrina.

The long edges of the old strap had been "pinked" -- cut in a zig-zag pattern. We see this detail occasionally, but this strap was unique in that each "zig-zag" had been painstakingly hand cut with a sharp knife.

We re-created the strap with a pinked edge and hand-cut tapered billet (tongue). The original buckle was cleaned up and attached to the new strap using rivets, similar to the original design.
