A "pony" bell strap has two or more rows of small bells. It can be sized to fit any equine from mini to draft. This strap is sized to fit the neck of a standard-sized horse or possibly the body of a small pony.
The original strap for this set of bells was probably lined at one time based on the pattern of stitching holes at each end of the strap, but the lining was long gone. The owner asked us to clean and polish the bells and re-create the strap just as he found it without a lining.
We stitched the original buckle onto the new strap, since the buckle was still in good shape. The wide center section of the bell strap tapers dramatically at each end to accommodate the narrow buckle. The tapers are accented with a crisp double row of creases around the edge of the entire strap.
The dark brown strap holds 40 "petal" bells all #2 size (1 1/4" across). From the buckle to the tip of the billet, the strap is just over 55 inches long. I added a hanging ring that buckles onto the bell strap with a separate leather fastener. This optional extra-cost detail adds a nice finishing touch to the top of this strap.
