One-piece "patent" bells are stamped from thick sheet brass and have a ring of patent dates stamped on the base. These bells have many minor design variations. They are also called Tucker bells, after their designer George Tucker.
The style of patent bell shown is the most common version, with two throat (slits), hemispherical top, conical base, and the ring of dates. Patent bells date from the 1870s through the early 1900s.
