One-piece "patent" bells are stamped from thick sheet brass and have a ring of patent dates stamped on the base. These bells have many minor design variations. They are also called Tucker bells, after their designer George Tucker.
The style of patent bell shown is a less-common version, with two throat (slits), a nearly spherical shape, and the ring of dates. Patent bells date to the 1870s through the early 1900s.
